Status Quo

The first light awoke ancestral memories eons old. She dug deep into
the mud, deeper than she had ever dug before. She covered her eyes
with mud and made sure her nose was covered in a pourous mixture of
mud and rocks.
As Asia, America, Europe, and Africa assured mutual destruction of
the planet, the crocodile slept.
